Tim Schäfer

Journalist Tim Schäfer has been commuting between New York and Germany since spring 2006. He reports weekly on the happenings on Wall Street for Euro am Sonntag and Börse Online, two leading German economic publications. Additionally, he writes for das aktien-Magazin and the stock market newsletters Prior Global and Prior Börse. According to a company from the dpa group, Tim Schäfer is among the most relevant German bloggers (The Kings of the Blogosphere). He grows up in southern Germany. As an exchange student and undergraduate, he spends extended periods in Paris, London, Indianapolis, Houston, Athens, and Izmir. Schäfer speaks fluent English and French. In 1996, he graduates from the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences. The city of Mannheim hires the Diplom-Betriebswirt (Diploma in Business Administration) in the controlling and cost accounting department within human resources. Even as a student, he writes for local newspapers and various specialty magazines. He decides to combine his economic interest with journalism and studies journalism at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart. In 1998, he interned at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. From 1999, he works as an editor for the Frankfurt stock market newsletter publisher Egbert Prior. Schäfer undergoes part-time training as a stock analyst with the German Association for Financial Analysis and Asset Management (DVFA). Numerous radio interviews and television appearances follow, including on n24 in Berlin. After nine years of professional activity in Frankfurt, he relocates to New York in spring 2006. Schäfer lives on Wall Street. Since 2006, he has been an enthusiastic long-distance runner, cyclist, and swimmer. Last year, he completed several marathons and triathlons – he also participated in the New York City Marathon.
