On the final trading day of July, major indices closed lower across the board. The Dow Jones lost about 0.7% to end the day at 44,131 points. The S&P 500 slipped 0.4% to just under 6,339, while the Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.5%. Despite the daily losses, both the S&P and Nasdaq remain at record levels for July. The market pulled back despite strong quarterly results from tech giants Microsoft and Meta , which both exceeded expectations.
