On Friday, January 16, 2026, U.S. markets traded slightly lower after a brief recovery the previous day. All three major U.S. indices closed in the red, although the losses remained manageable. The Dow Jones dropped by about 0.2%, finishing the session at around 49,359 points, the S&P 500 lost nearly 0.1% to about 6,940 points, and the Nasdaq Composite also fell slightly by less than 0.1% to approximately 23,515 points.
