The radiation treatment system, which is now being used by a first company in the US, uses a robotic platform to precisely control and adjust the radiation dose to the tumor while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. As a result, cancers can be treated faster and with less harm to patients.
Thanks to the combination with the new VitalHold function, the patient\'s position is also scanned with a high-resolution camera and reconstructed in real time as a 3D image, which enables high reproducibility of the patient\'s position during treatment. As the International Agency for Research on Cancer expects a 35% increase in cancer cases in the USA between 2022 and 2040, there is enormous future demand potential for the system.
In addition to this landmark new order, Accuray announced a record quarterly system shipment on August 14. The 24% year-on-year increase resulted in the highest quarterly revenue ($134.4 million) in the company\'s history. At the same time, the company announced earnings per share of $0.03 for Q4 2024, marking Accuray\'s first quarterly profit since Q3 2023. The company still reported a loss of $0.16 per share in fiscal 2024. However, building on the strong Q4 2024, analysts now expect the company to post its first full-year profit in five years, which should mark a turning point in the company\'s development.
The increasing popularity of the robotics solution ultimately led to a 10% increase in demand in the full financial year 2024 compared to the previous year. This resulted in a significant decrease in inventories and an increase in cash, which is an important basis for the company\'s long-term success. In addition, Accuray received new approvals for the use of its high-quality solutions in China, Japan and India in Q4 2024, among others, which should further boost demand in the long term. Since the announcement of the quarterly and full-year results, the company\'s share price has risen by over 60% in light of the wealth of positive news.
