Michael Dell confirmed in a tweet on June 19, 2024, that DELL is building an AI factory for xAI together with NVIDIA, where a supercomputer for Grok, a generative AI chatbot, is being built. This is a competitor to ChatGPT. xAI was founded by Elon Musk. DELL will assemble half of the racks required for the supercomputer. At the same time, this is a significant reference for the new "Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA" offer. Jensen Huang had already praised Dell a few weeks ago for building the best AI factories. This is demonstrated by the current order. Dell is likely to be approached by more companies in future to provide infrastructure for their AI factories. Accordingly, strong momentum can also be expected for Dell\'s AI servers. Most recently, Dell reported AI server orders of $2.6 billion and an order backlog of $3.8 billion.
Dell shares have ended their correction after the Q1 figures. The order from xAI shows that the momentum for AI servers and racks will remain high. Consequently, the market is again playing Dell as a beneficiary of the growing demand for AI factories.
