- Oracle is building a new AI data center for OpenAI to train ChatGPT. Google Cloud will offer Oracle database services in the future. AWS could soon follow.
- In the last quarter alone, there were 30 new AI contracts worth $12.5 billion. OCI growth remains the key driver at +42%.
- The expansion of cloud infrastructure capacities is expected to further accelerate growth in each quarter of the new fiscal year 2025. OCI revenues are expected to exceed the 50% growth rate and be twice as high.
Oracle Cloud Services and Oracle data centers are used by the world\'s largest cloud and AI companies, including NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, X AI, Open AI and many more. This is because OCI\'s area network with Gen 2 cloud infrastructure can transfer data much faster. If usage is billed per minute, then the high speed also ensures lower costs. Oracle is now building a new data center for OpenAI for ChatGPT\'s AI training. There is also a new partnership with Google to make the Oracle database available to Google Cloud. Such a partnership has already been in place with Microsoft Azure since last September, where the annual recurring revenue generated is still low, but is expected to increase by a factor of 10 in the first quarter and by a factor of 30 in the second quarter. Oracle also wants to network with AWS accordingly.
Capacity expansion to increase growth in each new quarter
So far, the pace of capacity expansion in the data centers and its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has not been able to keep pace with the unbroken high demand. The expansion of capacity is now set to gradually accelerate growth from quarter to quarter in the new fiscal year 2025. On the one hand, Oracle wants to differentiate itself from the competition with the largest data centers in the world with up to 1 GW, which is comparable to a small town. On the other hand, very compact data centers can be built in a unique way, which can soon be used with six standardized half racks (half-height server racks) in submarines, shipping containers or conventional data centers. This means that every customer will have the complete Oracle Cloud with every service in their data center and will also be able to scale as required. As an alternative to the public cloud, these private clouds also offer advantages in terms of security and data protection, for example for governments.
30 new AI contracts signed for $12.5 billion - targets for 2026 are too conservative
Although Q4 results were weaker than expected, with revenue up 3.3% and net profit of $1.63 (consensus: $1.65), investors are convinced. Many large software license contracts are being converted into cloud deals, which boosted cloud revenues by 20%. The infrastructure business weakened slightly from 49% to 42% with $2 billion, but remained an important driver. Over 30 AI contracts were concluded in the last quarter with a total value of more than $12.5 billion and almost $17 billion since the beginning of the year. Many contracts are said to still be in the pipeline. The remaining performance obligations have already increased by 44% year-on-year to $98 billion, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of $18 billion. A decline in revenue of 1% in 2020 has now turned into growth of 8 % (6 % including Cerner) in the last year . Double-digit growth rates have been forecast for the new fiscal year, although the analyst consensus so far only expects 9%. The cloud infrastructure business is likely to double again. According to analysts, net profit is likely to be $6.20 this year and rise to $7.17 per share by 2026. The forward P/E 2026 ratio of 18.8 therefore appears attractive.
