Qualcomm: Working With Google and Samsung on Mixed Reality Glasses! The top Beneficiary of the Edge AI era Becomes Attractive After the Correction!
- Qualcomm is working with Google and Samsung on new mixed reality glasses. Qualcomm is thus broadening its base as a supplier of mobile devices.
- The Edge AI era makes Qualcomm a beneficiary as it becomes an important chip supplier for smartphones, notebooks and AR and VR glasses.
Qualcomm (QCOM) is diversifying as a supplier of chips for more and more applications. Previously mentioned as a supplier of processors primarily in connection with smartphones, the company is now one of the suppliers of chips for the digital car chassis, provides the processors for the new AI laptops (Copilot+ PC) from Dell, HP and Co. and is also a supplier of semiconductors for AR and VR glasses.
Today's news that the company is working with Samsung and Google on mixed-reality glasses is exciting. However, they are taking a different approach to the Apple Vision Pro because the glasses are to be linked to the smartphone. Qualcomm is already supplying chips for the Meta Quest 3 and is using the Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 for this. By addressing the market for mixed reality glasses, the company is increasing its sales potential and positioning itself more broadly. Qualcomm is still in the early stages with smart glasses. VR and AR glasses are only expected to account for 9.7 million units worldwide this year. However, Qualcomm would be excellently positioned if these become established.
Qualcomm is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Edge AI era, in which AI processes are being shifted to notebooks and smartphones. The powerful processors are provided by Qualcomm. The correction from $225 to $160 has made the stock attractive again. As soon as the Qualcomm share breaks out of the consolidation and gives the green light on the charts, it is a good buy on the long side.
