We are backing the stock for two reasons. 1) According to NVIDIA, Dell builds the best AI factories and works together with the chip developer. With AI demand now broadening across cloud service providers and AI factories emerging, Dell\'s server business should rise. 2) The next big upgrade cycle for PCs and notebooks is coming. Morgan Stanley expects the introduction of computers with AI capabilities to have a very positive impact on demand over the next few years. Microsoft gave the go-ahead with "Copilot plus PC".
According to Morgan Stanley, AI PCs are ushering in the next phase of growth in the PC market as they are marketed as productivity tools. Market growth should accelerate in the Second Half of 2024 and 2025. AI PCs are expected to account for only 2% of the PC market in 2024, but should reach 16% in 2025, 28% in 2026 and finally 48% in 2027.
This means a major upgrade cycle is imminent. One reason for this is that, according to Dell\'s AI reference, AI can be performed around 75% more cost-effectively on devices rather than in the cloud. This is likely to shift some workloads.
